Orangutans

Okay, well recent research tells us that Orangutans are endangered species why?  Much of their homelands are being destroyed by loggers who are cutting down the trees and by fires. Which means that they are cutting down their homes and have no where to live, even though Orangutans are protected by law, baby Orangutans are caught and sold illegally all over the world as pets. They are severely endangered due to destruction of their rainforest habitat; the days when an orangutan could swing from tree to tree from one side of Borneo to the other without touching the ground are long gone. Here is a picture of where they love on a map.

:

Orangutans height:

Male height: around 1.5 meters

Female height: around 1.2 meters
Lifespan 60 years or more

For the first 4-6 years an orangutans holds on his/her mother when grabbing fruit.
Orangutans have very good strength which enables them to swing to branch to branch and hang upside down for long periods of time.

Reflection

The year is almost over can you believe that! It is almost the end of the year so for homework we were requested to do some reflecting the year we just had, may I just add that year 5 is the best year ever. My teacher is amazing I have learnt so much thourgh out the course of the year. She helped me to set up my blog. My teacher is the worlds best teacher. The homework task is this

Reflection Time: If you were the year 5 teacher what would you change? What would you add? What would you take away?

Well here goes with my answer.

If I was year 5 teacher I would of done most things the same but I would of had more time for handwriting and spelling. Other wise that is excatly what I would do. I would take away 1 of the math lesson on a Wedensday It make it double novel study. I would add more writing in books rather than on the computer typing and doing activeties suchas spelling city and mathletics. Otherwise I would of not changed a single thing. If you want to see more about my life in year 5 go to these links

My little sister

Hey,

I have a little sister who last year on the 31st of October was christened. It was a fairly long service. The god parents of my little sister are Scott Webster, Curtis Bartlett (my brother) and Donna Millionaire. These will be the people if my parents die we would go to .

My little sister was christened by Martin at the church called St. Martins church. For after the christening we had the v8 cake and parfait rolls in a tower with toffee around the edge  in a fine web. They are really good this was at a boat club in middle harbour near Mosman.

My little sister is my favourite person in the world. Her name is Stephanie we call her Steph and Boo Boo or boo. We call her boo because the first word I said to her was boo and she had hiccups and jumped. I was the first person to hold her.

On the 6th of march 2009 at 6.37am Friday morning she was born. On Monday  it will be 1 year since she was christened. SHe has blue eyes blonde hair and is so very cute.

Christian.

Hey everybody,

I am very proud to say that I am a christian. Earlier this year I became a cru leader at my school with 4 other people. The job of a cru leader is to tell the student more about God and Jesus. We are also required to come to 1 learning lesson a week on Monday. We are also required to turn up to crusaders on a Thursday. A crusader session is a lunch time activity to teach other students about god. It is lots of fun, the other leaders are Felicity who is in year 5. Emily year 5, Shoined who is in year 6 and Maddie who is also in year 6. I go to church nearly every week on a Sunday.

Here are a few of my favourite bible verses:

John 3:16

For   God   so   loved   the   world   that   he   gave   his   one   and   only   Son,   that   whoever   believes   in   him   shall   not   perish   but   have   eternal   life.

1 Corinthians 13: 4- 13

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the

Book review

This week for a homework task I needed to write a book review. I have chosen to do my book review on ” Cinderella Cleaners” ” Swan Fake” By Maya Gold.

This book is about a dry cleaner owners daughter Diana tries on different outfits. In this book her friend Amelia is in a ballet but she wants to go to a soccer tryout on the day of one performance and needs Diana to fills in for her secretly.  She fits the costume perfectly but unfortunately Diana can’t dance  which is where the fun begins. Diana also has to worry about her solo in the school performance. She also has to make her costume for the school performance. Whilst her love interest Will starts liking her 2 it is Christmas and it is approaching quickly. Will the performances turn out right and is there love in the air. This is a great book by Maya Gold. This is one book out of a series. She has other books out such as Change of dress, Prep cool, Rock & role, Mask appeal and Scheme spirit.
